Thanks Gary, I couldn't afford a high quality job..
I think this will do me..I am happy that I got it all covered so it doesn't rust..

I have a lot of work to get all the stuff back on it...Hopefully, I'll get it finished by Christmas..

Nikmish - Looks great!

As for what I did with my truck today, I went to a salvage and got a 3rd brake/cargo light. More about that in Dad's thread in a bit. But, while there I asked about a few other things that I found:
  • Sway bar setup - both ends. He wants $100 and I pull.
  • Instrument cluster with tach. $75 by itself or $50 if I buy the sway bars. Don't need it, but someone might. Anyone?
  • Door panels with lock and window switches. Said "we'll work something out" several times. I think they'd be a big help fixing up a full set for Dad's truck.
  • PS Pump. Doesn't look like the ones I see. Must be a Saginaw. Wonder how hard it would be to adapt to an M? Never did get a price as the guy kept saying I can make mine quiet with just some motor oil in the lube.
  • A.I.R. Pump. AKA smog pump. Need to check to see what # an 85/86 WHO took re what a 460 took.

You need to use Type F in the C2 pump.
Some people put that smelly LS additive in there when their pump gets too whiny.

I think the Saginaw pump came in all years of vans and most luxury cars.
Surely a late '70's Lincoln, Tbird, Country Squire wagon or something like that with a 400 would have all you need as far as hoses and brackets.

Corporate II is the round plastic reservoir pump found on almost everything, and certainly all these trucks.

Ah, now I know what you mean. I put Dexron 6 full synthetic in mine. It was loud as a seal before. Sure smoothed out the steering box too.

Gary,
Just saw your photo edit.
You don't want that serpentine pump.
The pulley bore is different than Vbelt.

Should say 'the shaft size is different than for a V-belt pulley,'

Swapped the front springs for a used set I got from Gary yesterday. Got the front back down where it belongs, and stood the tires back vertical.

Hadn't heard of using the LS additive. But I do agree it is smelly!

And, I hadn't thought about looking at the cars with 400's. Good idea! Tnx.

As for the shaft size, I didn't know that. Another THANKS!

RW - That was quick. Good job.

It would probably fit mine. Look at the older vans and class C motorhomes, Many of the class C on a Ford chassis had V-belt 460s. The only Lincoln with an M block was the 1979, it had a 400 as Ford didn't downsize it with the Crown Vic and Grand Marquis, but phased out the passenger car 460 the end of 1978. I know a lot of the Lincolns had Saginaw PS pumps and Frigidare A-6 compressors.

Yeah, slow day at the shop. took all of 30 minutes to complete the swap, and 10 of that was trying to get the passenger side shock out of the lower mount. The steel sleeve walked out of the rubber bushing.......

Wouldn't anything that fit a 460 not fit a 400? Aren't the brackets different? I haven't looked at the catalog to see, but assumed they are. But, I will look at the 400 powered cars like the Thunderfowl.

Changed my license plates. The BSA-15 set that have been on 3 Ford trucks, a '58, a '77 and the '86 finally came off. The troop failed to recharter in 2012 so they didn't really mean anything any longer. I wanted to get DARTH, DARTHV, DVADER, even tried DV TRK but nothing was available. I just went with the Eastern Shore plates, next available number.
