In the rebuild did you rejet? How's it running at altitude?

We don't have a GTG thread yet. It was actually a Work To-Gather and we WTG'd until 10:00 PM. From there it was to the shower and straight to bed. Maybe today I can get some of Chris' pics posted in a thread and others can then add their own. And, although the thread will be in the only forum that is OK, we'll post a link here.

But, here's some of what we did:
  • Got a pair of pallets screwed together and Chris' bed loaded on them upside-down. Then it was strapped to the pallet and loaded on the back of Dad's truck, being careful not to damage that bed in the process.
  • Ray got the old bearings off and the new bearings on his rear axle, and the differential flushed out and checked for backlash. When he was cutting the keepers on the axles they went off like gun shots and you should have seen the guys duck.
  • Bruno finished part of his project of building "posts" for the sides on his truck, to which he's going to add side boards.
  • Bruno's son Kris, a new FTE member, got a new project - motorizing a bicycle.
  • Jason got 95% of the welding done on my new exhaust system, with the last bit not done because we couldn't get the exhaust "Y" off due to interference between the tranny and exhaust flange/nut. I'll fix that - as soon as I rest up.
We weren't able to re-jet I live in the middle of BFE and they didn't have any that would work but I ordered a couple and Ill mess with them when they get here, Needed to make it run asap, it is my daily driver.

Not much, replaced the oil pan gasket with a one piece rubber one and cleaned the cowl area.

What kind of diagram do you need?
The solenoid is simple.
Starter to one side. Little blue/red wire to the 'S' terminal. And everything else to the stud common with the battery+ cable.

As for the regulator, it depends if you have a factory ammeter, or just idiot lights.

Here's a shot from an 81 shop manual. I'd bet the wiring is exactly the same. Zoom in on it and I think you can read it all.

Looks like a lot of progress was made Gary!
Thanks for the link to photos and play by play.

I'd bet you can't wait to hear how that new exhaust sounds.

Didn't get anything done to my truck except work it.
I took it to the painter about 80 miles..on Sat.

He had a heart attack and bypass surgery Sat evening.

His wife called me and I picked it up today as he is going to be out of service for a while..At least everything went well and he is going to be ok.

I hauled my little car to have wheels back and then repeated it today..

P.S. Pic to prove it ..Drive a Ford..Haul a Chevy..

I don't think your truck looks bad enough to cause a heart attack? What was it that he found?

Nothing with the truck...He is about our age and I think he was trying to get TOO MANY projects done...

At least he is going to be back in business in a few months...I'm thankful that his wife got him to the emergency room in time to save his life.

On the lighter side, Ya'll got a LOT done...Trav..

Yes, I am glad she got him there quickly. It is scary how many are having heart problems.
