I'm in the same situation where I'm deciding between a F250 or F350. I'll be towing a concession trailer under Commercial insurance policy. Can anyone give me ballpark on the two? Trailer is about 5000 to 7500 lbs max.
When I lived in VA had to pay registration of like 30 bucks and then vehicle property tax which could be as high as 1200 or more.
Now live in TX and pay about 76 bucks for the truck. haha
My 07 F250 is about $425 to renew this year. I have been told that if you qualify for a disabled plate (not the blue thing that hangs from the mirror) you can register your truck for about $100 and avoid the commercial and weight fees and still be able to pull your 5er or utility trailer with toys on board. Then you could also park in the handicapped parking areas. Down side, you have to drive around with a wheel chair icon on your plate.
I have been on DMV website looking to see if there is a differnece in registration between an F250 Vs F350 and I am having no luck. I was assured by the sales person there is no difference in the weight fee but I have heard through friends they thought there was.
I believe a Crew Cab short bed F350 has a GVwR of around 11,300 and an F250 in under 10,000 possibly around 9,600LBS.
Can I get some help in figuring this out. I want the F350 but I am not willing to spend $100 or more a year for a weight fee. You know how bad California is. The $800 or so is bad enough for an F250 I don't want to see $900.
Can you guys post your vehicle weights and DMV fees I would appreciate it!!
Order the truck with the 10,000 lb GVWR package. I did on my 12 Supercab Long bed, for reg weight and insurance reasons. Same truck different door sticker.
TX plates are about 70 bucks renewal this year on the 350.
I love Texas.
Just moved from TX to NC. Bought the truck in TX and paid Texas sales tax at time of purchase. I need to register it in NC and evidently NC has Highway Usage Tax that is 3% of the vehicle value when registering. That on top of state income tax and state sales tax. Funny, I thought the two were mutually exclusive.
