Flat 6 water pump

After searching for a while I am sarting to think that rebuilding my water pump myself may be a poor idea. I have not been able to find any seal dimensions on line to match up my water pump. I wonder if anyone has measured the Ford 9N tractor rebuild kit to see if it will fit the 226 flat six pump body. I know that many manufactors kept the parts count down by useing the same parts every where they could. The 9N unit looks identical to the 226 pump. I have re machined the impeller for the seal seat. I know I could lap the existing seal and get good enough results. I plan on running the engine in the truck once in a while while I build up the "correct" driveline parts.

Well, I know that napa sells these pumps new, so they should have a gasket. Have you tried there yet?

This was brought up on the Bonus Built site a couple of years back. If I remember correctly some one on that board was able to use the 8N impeller but had to machine the shaft. Too bad the BB board died there was a lot of good reference material there.

I have a complete pump that appears to be in serviceable condition. I have no way to test it, but it has tight bearings and the seal drags the correct amount. Let me know if you are interested.

I will be taking the parts and a caliper to the farm supply store today to measure a few things and will post the results. I am only interested in getting the engine running for a short while and am reluctant (read "really too cheap") to start rebuilding everything as I have several versions of race prepped V8's ready to install. The smallest motor is a 347 inch SBF-HO @435 flywheel HP. I plan on putting the flat 6 on a stand to run for the fun of it.
