Ignition key question.

This is kind of silly, but can anyone tell me the correct way to install an ignition switch in a 1959 F100? What I mean is, does the key go in upside down (teeth up) or do the teeth (on the key) go down? Just a silly argument and I know it don't mean anything, but I know someone on here would know the correct answer. Thanks

Not silly at all. In any lock the teeth go up - keeps the dirt out of the pins and keeps them working longer.

Just to clarify, that would be any Ford lock. GM locks were always teeth down.

Yep,

On a Ford lock, the teeth of the key point up when inserting!
But that's not upside down, that's right side up! LOL!

Thanks for the replies. I guess I should have asked before I put mine in (upside down). The spacer had some little notches but would go either way. We (me and my brother-in-law) discussed it (he said teeth up, of course) and I thought it looked better down. Guess I was wrong. Really don't know if I will turn it over or not. That is not the easiest part to install and remove. Anyway, thanks for the answers.

Well you have to be very careful, because you never know when you will pull into the market parking lot and some fool will come over and ask you why your ignition switch is in upside down, and you have to go to another market.....LOL

Odd thing is even upside down, it still turns the right direction to start and run.

Hey if you like it better like that then leave it!!!!! If anyone ever does say anything, (after you slap him) just tell him you did it on purpose - it's "customized!."
