I know I haven't done an update in a long time so I figured I would post something up for you guys. Haven't made a ton of progress because books for this semester are probably going to drain all my money.

Some parts that I needed. You wouldn't believe there's almost $200 there with having the fly wheel machined.

Cylinder head off the 6 banger. Anyone want to donate me a good running 351m/400/302/351w/pre 79 460? Gonna probably have to do valve guides and other fun stuff which kinda defeats my idea of not putting much money into this temporary motor.

All my junk moved over to one side of the garage, figured my dad might like to have half of it back.

Shortblock for the 6 cylinder. A few of the water passages were blocked. Probably why the thing got hot really quick.

Decent cylinder

Not so decent cylinder. It's got a lot of roughness at the top, seems rusty. Maybe it's just carbon and I'll be lucky.

One of the inner fenders that I bought from kingbee. Good guy to do business with.

Cab mount brackets that I bought off my uncle.

Core support and the other inner I got from kingbee as well.

Bottom of the head. Didn't see any burnt valves but I know from when me and my dad did the valve stem seals that some of the guides are not good at all.

Obviously right now my budget is my biggest issue but hopefully I can figure something out with this motor without spending a ton at a machine shop.

Comments & Tips always appreciated

Lucked out to say the least...

Got it for $500. Gotta remember I'm in upstate New York. Luckily the
guy got this from arizona 6-7 years ago and it's been in his garage since.

Did find some possible bondo or something. If you look at the last pic the other bedside you can see, the backside of it has a bunch of bumps spread out. Looks like someone tried to fill in a bunch of screw holes with bondo or something.

edit: you can see them in the pic if you look close.

Great project, progress and nice find on the bed. I paid 3 times that for mine in about the same shape.

And yes, the $$$$ starts to add up. I think my original budget flew away after I ordered my Trickflow heads for my motor. And then came the bodywork.

Yea it gets expensive fast. I think I found out what those little nubs are from. Thinking someone used the screw in style dent puller and filled in the holes. Sound like that's what it is?

It's only temporary to keep it inside but...

Those are 31's for refrence and it's a 4" lift. Thinking 33's will look a little small for my taste, oh well.

Picked up the 351m tonight. Got the frame towers, all the accessories and brackets, good clutch, pressure plate and flywheel, dual exhaust... Motor also has an Edelbrock Performer 400 on it. Motor supposedly has 4000 miles and was a reman from advance about 4 years ago. Pulled a valve cover to check it out and it was as clean as a whistle, also turned it over by hand with the flywheel and it seemed alright.

Should be able to see it now.

Forgot to mention don't mind the mountain man beard haha.

Still surprised how well it ran for using a Holley 600 Vacuum Secondary carb that was off a 350 and has sat on a shelf for 3+ years. One thing I can say is that Accel Super Coil I put on there that was off the original 300-6 gives off a hell of a spark, especially when it grounds out through your arm haha.
