Oil line leak, and hello lol

Hello, I recently traded for a 94.5 F350 with 7.3 turbo/5spd crewcab dually. Its got about 300,000 thousand miles on it. Im sure ill be askin lots of questions. lol.

Last night it wouldnt start before i left for work so I took my old dodge. This morning I got up and looked at as i was walking to my jeep and noticed a big puddle underneath it. So its oil. My friend came over with his flashlight and i cranked the engine and it turns out to be the steel braided line is leaking the goes from the passenger side valve cover(injectors?) to the fuel pressure regulator next to the filter. I guess its the fuel pressure regulator? lol So im gonna remove it have one made I guess. Anything special I need to know about that?

The truck needs some work buts its very rust free. And very comfortable.

that line needs to be able to handle 4000psi, that should do it! these engines use high pressure oil to fire the injectors, when you get the line made, it might be a pig to get it started again because of air in the head and will take a few miles to purge all the air out of the head so you may or may not see hard starts for a day or too. good luck!

Might just be bad o-rings.
Depends where it's leaking at.

WOW 300,000,000 miles, thats a lot of milage, you should publish in Gines records. LOL.

If it goes to the FPR its a fuel line, if it goes to the HPOP is oil high pressure line, am I right?

Yes, the o-rings are at the end of the lines. I've been told they are only good for one time around. In other words, if you take the line off then new o-rings should be installed. Don't know that for a fact, just what I've been told.

If its been WELL taken care of before you got it it may last another couple hundred thousand with routine work done.

Does this line go to the front of the heads behind the A/C and Alternator or does the line go to the middle/top of the head?

If it goes to the middle top its a high pressure oil line and you need to buy one from Ford. If its the smaller line that goes to the front of the heads its a fuel line and you could have one made as its only running about 60-70 psi

What kind of kind of Maintenance is required to keep this engine happy?

It will be a pricey hose but PLEASE DON'T have one made! Think of 3000 psi oil spraying on a 700 degree turbo if it leaks.

I called the Ford dealer yesterday and they want 247.00 dollars for that 1ft hose lol. I had to pick myself up off the floor after I had to pick myself up off the floor after that. Anybody know where to get one cheaper?

Yep, try the IH dealer for the hose. They are usually a bit cheaper.

Clean fuel, change oil often, let it breathe...
