460 Swap - Accessories and Brackets

I have a 460 in my 73 hiboy, and am getting to the point where I need to start getting the FEAD sorted out. The big block I started with was a bare block and heads, so I have absolutely no pulleys or brackets to start with. I do, however, have complete accessory drives from 360 and 351m truck engines, and may have a thing or two from a 302 kicking around.

Are any of the crank pulley, water pump pulley, alternator, alt bracket, p/s pump, p/s pump bracket transferable from a 351m or 360 to a 460 in a hiboy?

You may be able to use the PS pump bracket and the alternator bracket. Ford pretty consistently used three hole attachments points. The pulleys are a bit different story. From my experience swapping a 460 in for an FE, all the pulleys were different. In fact, there were a number of different variants of pulleys within the 429/460 motors. I would recommend trying to pull all of your pulleys and brackets from the same motor in a salvage yard. I actually ended up going with a set of March pulleys, after pulling out a lot of hair.

pulleys and such

Did the 360 have a/c on it? If it did I would trade you all you need for the 460 for the ones to fit a 390, as I just did the opposite swap, 460 out 390 into a 79.. Dan

Thanks for the help

No, sorry, it did not have a/c. Let me know if you need any other parts though

Best bet would be to look for a van with a 460 in the yard. Take every thing from it. They put the p/s pump and the alt more to the top of the motor that down low where they are close to everything.
