Help please
A few weeks ago I had trouble filling up while on a trip, I figured the pump at the station had too high of pressure. I still am experiencing this at other stations locally now. I have to fill at half speed or below. Does anyone know what could be causing this? None of the hoses appear to be collapsed going to the fuel tube.

My E250 did this except worse. It would take 30 minutes to put in 35 gallons. That required an immediate fix. One of the vent hoses was clogged with a white chalky substance. It required tank removal to finally find it.

 

Sounds like an issue with the vent solenoid system, which is probably the system incorporating the tube the ncranchero makes reference to. It seems that several makes and models of cars have issued TSBs for similar issues, you might see if there are any that apply to your Explorer.
