Why? Trans fluid has no lubricity for the injectors, use Diesel Kleen or something similar that is produced for such a purpose.

Why mix red trans fluid that is not made to burn and dyes your fuel red? If you want to put an additive in your fuel, you might want to use ashless 2 stroke oil that is made to burn.

Why don't you just use Diesel Kleen, Stanadyne, or Motorcraft additives.

We did that to our HMMWV's in Iraq and Afghanistan because the fuel quality there is poor and provided no lubricity that diesels require. It did solve some of our problems especially with the runaway engines, but we only used it because the army won't buy additives. I won't use it on my personal vehicle though, I use klean diesel. If your trying to go for a cheap additive to add lubricity, you may want to try ashless two stroke oil. Do a search for it there are plenty of guys that use it and swear by it.

I add a quart of 2 stroke oil to every tank. The walmart super tech brand is plenty good, cheap and ashless. If you search the threads on here you will find that it was rated as the #3 best additive, or maybe I read that in a diesel magazine. either way it works.

That's just one thing I've never been on board with is additives. Fuel or oil additives. Statistically speaking as much as a travel I should have come across some "issues" that would have changed my mind, but either I've had Divine Intervention or the odds of really needing that in the areas that I travel are really low.

However, if I was to do it, I wouldn't use 2-stroke oil or trans fluid. That just doesn't seem right in my mind, moreso with the trans fluid.

Question how big is your tank. I have a 44galon tank and just wondering how much to put in ?

Most users of 2 stroke oil say 1oz. per gallon of fuel.

You and me both Evan. Or maybe it's because you actually use your truck for what it's designed for and it gets worked hard. Either way....I totally agree with you on fuel or oil additives. I've just never seen the benefit.

I do have to say that I am an advocate of the Motorcraft Cetane Booster. If you have not tried it I would say you should. I noticed a definite improvement in my truck when I started using it. My truck gained approx. 1 mi. per gallon and it seems to idle quieter (less injector "clack") while I am using it. Ever since about 3,000 mi. I've put it in at every fill-up (except a couple when I ran out or something) and I plan on sticking with it. I understand if you don't go for lots of "hype" because I'm the same way but I do believe this is worth it.
