It does but every time you start the truck, you have to shut them off, it'd be nice if when pulling a trailer to be able to shut them off all the time, hence the switch.

You may want to search and then ask the folks in the 7.3L section.
1999 - 2003 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

This guy added to his 2002 but it looks like he replaced his lower dash with a 2005 so the '05 upfitters would install.

I didn't find any info in the tech section either so I'm with madsonp, doesn't look like the info is easily found but I also didn't own a 2001 either.

After fooling around with the "mute" circuit I finally figured out all I needed to do was to install a 24VDC realy and wire one of the speaker wires to the Normally Closed contact.

Also need to note that I did not want to drive around with the upfitter on 95% of the time, just wanted it on when in "override" -- this allows me to have all of the switches in the same position for normal operation. If you choose to use the Normally Open contact, your switch will be in the opposite postion for normal operation.

No, I had the dealer install an aftermarket system with a physical mute button.

The issue is that when pulling my boat the alarm constantly beeps every time I put the truck in reverse.

Especially frustrating when trying to get into tight places at the ramp or when I am in the boat (on the trailer) and someone else is backing down the ramp to launch the boat or parking the trailer after the boat is in the water.

Up Fitter Switches

Randy,
Darn, I was hoping you knew the trick to wire a bypass to the Upfitter switches for that Darn Reverse Alarm......I am really tired of resetting the alarm to OFF every single time I want back up the truck with Camper or Toy Hauler Trailer.

Anyone else figure out how to Put a Reverse Alarm Bypass on an upfitter Switch????

GARY

Tethergrain,
Which kit did you go with? How does the horn activate if wired to the upfitter switch?

With a trailer plugged in my reverse alarm does not sound ever. What am I missing in this post? Is it a setting you need to apply that maybe I did?

Adding some cameras to 1 and 2 or High Idle or Hot tub. So many choices, so little money

Backup Alarm

My truck came fitted with a backup alarm. I want to avoid irritating my neighbors at 6am when I back out of the garage, but I still use it in tight places like parking lots. Air bags in the future.
