Intermittent Bad Idle
#16
this is so common on 94 and 95 models. Lots of problems but all with oil pressure. Undertorqued from the factory injectors, crapping injector o rings and that IPR without the edge filter. That thing has burrs on the pintle inside I can almost guarantee it. I polished all the parts inside mine when I resealed it and it made a huge difference. Do that and the injector o rings and you should be ok.

I'm gonna do injector o-rings this weekend since I'm planning on changing the glow plugs. I'll see how that does. If it doesn't fix it then next pay day I'll put an IPR in it. The reseal went fine but I'm worried about what I couldn't inspect inside the smaller piece of the valve that I didn't pull apart.

I had the same exact issue. I did several things and I am not sure exactly which one fixed it. My EBPV tube was completely clogged, I cleaned it out plus the sensor, put new o-rings on IPR, removed the filter canister cleaned it out and cleaned out the FPR and replaced all of the fuel lines. The truck runs like it never has before.

Okay guys I did my injector o-rings today. Four of the oil to fuel o-rings were had so good call. I let the truck idle for about an hour after I finished it. It ran perfect smooth on idle I could rev it up and back down with no problems it would smooth right out. I was sure that i'd nailed the problem. I drove it into town (13 miles) and by the time I got there it was running erratically again. Now it only does it just a little bit and smooths out on its own I don't have to bump the throttle to stop it. So if it can idle with no problems and then starts acting up when it gets hot after driving it then is it the ipr? I wonder if the solenoid is failing when the engine gets hot cause even before I changed the o-rings it would act the worst when hot. I've got to say the o-rings made an immediate difference in how the truck drives.
