I'm just trying to figure out if we are saying the same thing...just from different sides of the fence. Potato...potato.
I think we're saying the same thing. Correct, the outer lip of the wheel will change position with width, but the center of the wheel is only dependent on the offset. The tire placement is only dependent on the center of the wheel as well, so with the same offset, different widths will not change the tread position.

I think so too. I think we are just looking at it from different views. Thanks.

back space measurement is critical. On my 03, 4.5 " is comfortable but not much more will have your rim rubbing on the steering arm.

ok what is the stock offset on a 02 superduty because i am runing 285/75R16 on the stock rims right now and at full lock i got about 1/2 space between the tire and the spring i just want a rim that will clear the springs with 12.50 wide tires i will be putting a lift on the truck to run 35x12.50 in years to come when i get the funds to do that i just want new rims for the summer time that can run 33x12.50 because the stocker rims look like sh$% good for winter tho

Stock offset is +6mm. You'll want something in the -6mm to -10mm range to keep the same clearance with a 33x12.50.
