Heater in 1956 F100

Heater and Defrost does not seem very powerful in our newly purchased 1956 Ford F100. Is their an after market Heather Defrost system that would make driving in very cold winter weather more possible? Truck is 12V with V8 Motor.

Thanks
Donald

Is the motor spinning up hard and fast? I used a 6V motor on mine. I just don't run it on high speed for long periods. What temp thermostat ya running? If the coolant aint hot neither will the heater be. Is the heater valve opening letting the water circulate? Engine is safe to about 195 temp so putting some cardboard in front of part of the radiator works when all else fails. So first we need to know what temp yer engine is running at and go from there Bud. And what engine ya got would help also. Like is it the Y block or something else? Inquiring minds would like to know.

That heater should run you out of that truck. Take the motor out and tear it down and make sure its clean and lubed. Then make sure your core is not clogged with crap. I have some of these heaters so if you need any parts let me know. My email is fifty-two_f1@ndwave.com

My 56 heater works great behind my y-block. I just recently discovered 'Vintage Air' makes a heater/defroster unit without air. I would still check the core and possibly a shutoff valve, before I changed anything. You would still have to remove everything to replace it.
