Transfer case fluid change

i'm going to change the transfer case fluid in my 2005 excursion diesel. should i use the same fluid that i used in the transmission or can i just use royal purple atf?

It calls for Mercon ATF about 2 quarts.

Yea you can use it. Put The front of the truck higher than the rear so that you can get some extra oil out.

I used amsoil and I really like it. And when I changed my fluid I needed 2-2.2 Quarts.

I used mobile 1 atf, so far so good. I've read a lot about folks using RP, I think its preference...IMO, just keep changed about every 30k and u should be fine.
