Another Question on my 4.6

I am not really sure if I have a head gasket problem for the oil in the oil pan is normal colored. On the oil cap however, I see the whitish color, can anyone tell me if this is something to worry about and if so, how to fix it. I have no problems with over heating and nothing drips in my parking spot.

That's simply condensate forming on the bottom of the cap. Nothing to worry about.

Do you do alot of short trip driving? If so your engine might not be reaching full operating temp.

Thanks for the post on this thread and the other one, yes the truck does get alot of short trip driving and I guess that every now and then I just need to take it out on a good run. Im grateful its not a head gasket issue or anything else.

Short trip driving, without long trips on those same days - especially in the northeast it seemed - is also a fast way to rust-out exhaust systems due to condensate.
