Transmission Bump

Hey Gents,

Recently bought a Used 2010 F350 SD 4x4, 5.4L, 3.73, extended cab long bed. It had 9100 miles on it. After buying it I noticed when stopping just before a complete stop at a light I felt a little movement underneath the truck. Also, when accelerating to go a little jump accurred. I kept notice of this and seemed like the transmission or almost like a u-joint.

The warrenty transferred to me and so I took it to my local Ford dealer. Service adviser said sounds like "transmission bump". It was in for service and adviser said they reset the software and also for 2003-2010 there is a TSB on this. He said Ford wants a little movement in there at stop and before take off for some reason.
Drove it home and it seemed to be better than it was but still slightly noticeable. I need to drive it more. Adviser said if it gets worse or different then let him know.

Just curious if anyone else has had this or are they blowing smoke?.

Appreciate any replys.

The slip yoke in the driveshaft needs to be lubed. It's dry and causing your bump.

They are poorly greased from the factory. You should also notice the bump when shifting into R or D from a stop.

You might ask if they are familiar with TSB 05-26-10; slip yoke, as mentioned, may need XG-8 grease. Of course, that TSB does not specifically apply to your truck year model, but . . . .

Some will say they were not machined to the correct dimension; Ford should cover the "clunk" under warranty.

Outstanding,

I have written down the responses and If this keeps up I will be taking it back to the dealer to check out the slip yoke.

Thanks for the replys and for a great informative web site.

I'll be in the background reading.

Have a great day!

Took My F350 back into the dealer today. They removed driveshaft and lubed the slip yoke. Seems to be fine now.
Appreciate the insight and replys. Mechanic did also mention that most are lubed enough to get them down the line.
Bests of all no charge!
Thanks and have a great day.

Unhappy bump still noticable; what next

Still have the transmission bump. Not noticable in cold weather. I do notice it when truck is warmed up or in warm weather which is what we are having now. Any suggestions?. Maybe something else is going on. Guess it is time to return to dealer.
