the truck has had a tune up and has a rebuilt trans.
here is my number should you wanna pick up the phone and help me out.201.206.6018 ed

Without any code information I would guess the IAC valve.
Try reading the codes and get back with us.
OBD I or II?

thank you for the response

i dont think that would be the problem since when you start the truck it run great and in drive it runs great the only problems seem to be when the truck warms up and u put it in reverse it wants to stall out.

if the IAC was bad then i would have that problem in drive as well correct???

there is NO check engine light on and the truck is running a smooth as it was brand new... just the reverse issue

You do not have to have a light on to have codes stored in the PCM.

I would not think so. It should have nothing to do with the transmission.

Does it also die if you come to a stop with the engine warm and set their with your foot just on the brake in overdrive or drive?

Sounds like you have a internal pressure leak in the trans, when you put it in reverse oil pressure bleeds from reverse circuit into the lock-up converter circuit and causes the converter to lock-up and the truck to stall. I have seen this happen on a few trucks with E4OD trans. Usually the pump is warped.

Jack the truck up in the rear. Start the truck and see if it stalls with the wheels off the ground and the emergency brake off. If it does not stall, then it is transmission related. If it does stall then it is engine related. Make sure you chock the front wheels so if does not roll off the jack. We don't want to be hearing about you on the news. It could be some sort of gear selector problem. If the computer senses the transmission is in gear when it should not be it may shut the engine off. This might be cause by a back selector switch that is a black thingy mounted on the left side of the transmission. If the other guy is right that the TC is locking in reverse then it should run fine with the wheels off the ground.
