only at the limit if you were placing the entire weight of the vehicle on the jack, which would be a pretty neat trick to see somebody balance their entire excursion on a floor jack

Most people will place the jack under the axle out near the wheel and lift one wheel at a time, weight would roughly be 7000/4 or 1750lbs

given the nature of the chicom jacks nowadays, a 3 ton or better is still a good call.

Pirate- I do usually lift one corner at a time. Thanks for the correction.

I probably wouldn't use a smaller jack unless I had too.

Ya, just razzing you. 3 ton jack is a good size for the ex.

Fwiw... I bought a brand new craftsman 3 ton jack, put it under my ex, 2 pumps and it blew the cylinder out. Tried to return it and was denied. Have never been back to sears.

Bought the HF 3.5 ton and it has worked flawlessly for the past few years. Pretty sure it is on le right now for $80

I do not see a 3.5t in HF's latest mailing, or website. There are a few different spins of their 3 ton...least expensive $89......with the 20% coupon on the back.

I have an old Craftsman I may replace...still debating....

Pirate- My Arcan's are from Costco and work great. My Dad has an older one that has worked for a long time too.

Those Craftsman jacks aren't good at all, had a buddy which had to replace a couple different ones. Unfortunate dor the brand.

20 % coupon no good for jacks.... Ask me how I know, and yes I am a new 3 ton jack owner as of today. I got the $99 one as it goes up another inch and a half.

I have a 5-ton floor jack as well as 5 ton jack stands. You could use 3 ton jack and jackstands.

Or even this.

That's PERFECT!
