quick tc ?

I am installing a tci breakaway converter onto my 429. i Started to bolt it down and the shaft that goes into the back of the crankshaft is keeping it from mating with the flywheel. right now there is about an half inch gap between the tourque converter and flywheel. Is it suppoesed to be this way, if not is there a way to adjust this or is for some odd reason this coverter not compatable withe my crank. any sugestions appreciated

Ford used two different pilot sizes. Does it have a 460 crank? It should bolt up snug. You must have the wrong converter per app.

I had a 429 with the smaller pilot hole.
Thinking you do too.
Another thought would be anything TCI
they're usually trouble for C6's

the torque coverter i have has the 1.85" pilot and the front part of the pilot shaft fits in for about a half inch then it tapers down to a smaller diameter whole. if the inside diam. of the smakker part of the hole is bigger than 1.35" would i bbe able to use a converter with a 1.35 shaft?

thank you, john

This is true. TCI makes junk products. The last one of their torque converters I put in a friends trans ( against my recommendation ) leaked where it was welded together.
