'97 F250- Should I just mount winch on front bumper ??

hi guys,
So, since I have not found anyone to swap bumpers with me.., and If I keep this large ranch style bumper..
If I want to mount a winch on the front.., should I just drill some holes in the deck of this bumper since the metal is so thick and just mount the winch there or ?????

any ideas ?
thanks,
Kevin

Man, i wish you were closer. I would switch you. I like being able to stand on that style bumper to work on the engine.

But yes. I would mount the winch right on the deck there.

Winches require a minimum mount plate thickness of 5/8" or larger if I remember correctly. How thick is that plate?

You could make a or buy a winch diaper and use that front hitch to mount it. That's what I would do, I like to have the removable option

I would mount it on a plate with a tube so you can put in the receiver on your bumper.

I think Warn has a winch mount that locks into the reciever, you could wire it for front and back use.

If you want to trade bumpers you should post a thread titled "bumper for trade" or something to that nature. I guarantee someone will take you up on it. Tons of people would kill for the offer you've made.

My truck is the same color as James. It has a lot of flake in the paint and looks great when clean. I sure do like your paint scheme though too. One of my favorites...

I will take a picture of my winch set up this weekend! It made from 1/2 plate and 2" square stock. I can use it on both my truck with receiver hitchs and on my trailer that has a reciver hitch weld on the front. Best part is it stays in my box out of the weather and out of sight.
