You guys don't know what you're missing.

Just got mine last week. Drives a runs incredible. You can dis all you want about looks, ground clearance and IFS but if you're going to be doing a lot of real otr pulling, this truck will do it and then some.

Build quality so far is perfect. Paint quality is perfect. Only negative so far is a strange ticking/tapping noise that so far has been in almost all of the engines. Inside line is that it's not mechanical but related to higher oil pressure.

I'm not trying to convert anybody, just telling how I feel from the real world experience.

I know exactly what I'm missing.... maintenance problems down the road, cheap recycled soda bottle plastic interior items, ugly styling and having to hang my head in shame....

I know what i'm missin, drivin down the road gettin bogged down when a ford w/a powerstroke blows by me pullin somethin heavier than what i am w/that chevy, i think i'll pass. I'll stick w/the ford/international/PSD than the GM/Isuzu/duramax. ha you sure are a joker, praising ch*vy's on a ford site. what is this world comin to.

I HATE Chevy trucks. Ordinarily I'd cut you some slack but on a Ford forum don't expect any breaks. I guess I should be glad for you cause you like it, but I hate to see good money wasted on junk.

Ticking and Tapping
become slamming and slapping
followed by shifing and shaking
with blowby and breaking.

I'm sure not gonna miss that.

The "new" chevrolet engines have a severe problem with pushrods bending. Might want to invest in a gross of pushrods!

Missing? I'm not missing a thing. My fords have yet to let me down. Even when some punk in an S-10 thinks he's bad. I let him know just how bad he was too!

As far as a GM truck owner posting on a Ford site, I thought this was the Ford -vs- Competition topic. Maybe they should change the name of it to "Flame the Competition".

This truck eats Powerstrokes. Isuzu makes first class diesels. GM builds a fine truck.

BTW kids, notice I haven't said anything bad about your precious Fords.

Are there any adults on this forum? :-)

Hmmmmm.... let's see:

1. You've got a brand new truck and already "Only negative so far is a strange ticking/tapping noise ". And apparently this happens to most of them? Sounds like a real confidence builder.... not.

2. GM (ie, all GM family vehicles) has been losing market share for more than a decade. Companies building quality products that the market demands increase market share. Doesn't seem that the market shares your enthusiasm for Got Mechanic Coming.

3. Ford has increased its market share for more than a decade.

4. Overall, GM family vehicles have amoung the lowest reliability ratings.

5. Even GM's crown gem, the Cadillac, has been hit hard. Lincoln stole GM's luxuary car crown last year. Cadillac has poor resale value due to reliability problems.

6. My comment about plastic was an assumption based on experience with all other GM family vehicles I've had the displeasure of being in. Lo and behold, Edmunds (www.edmunds.com) agrees: "cheap interior materials" and says of its Chevy counter-part: "cheap build quality"

7. You come to a Ford board and brag about your GM? Who's the child?

8. A Japanese engine in a GM truck? GM has really hit bottom.

If I'm not mistaken GM is whipping Ford in truck sales so far this year. How's that for gaining market share. I'd say that's hitting you right where it hurts. Who cares about car sales, this is strickly truck talk.
I guess that was your only recourse though since Ford truck sales are now second.

And the big question.....
Why is GM selling more trucks than Ford?
Probably cause of Ford's cheap vacuum form heaven interiors. I've had my Ford trucks and my GMC truck interior is leaps and bounds ahead of Fords in quality of materials and comfort. The more you put the GM interior down, the lower your Ford gets.

You say I'm bragging but if you actually read the post, It wasn't bragging at all. Simply stating real life experience... with some stupid honesty.

PS.. just stirrin the pot. Fords ain't that bad. I actually like some of em. Love the look of the Superduty, and I like the Powerstroke. That's an aweful big loud engine to be out pulled by my smaller, smoother, more refined Dmax. And with a transmission that doesn't need a de-tuned engine in front of it.

Come on back...... https://www.ford-trucks.com/dcforum/Images/biggrin.gif

Real world wake up call, brand new and already tapping?? lol i'd like to see gm explain that one..oh wait they did! "high oil pressure?" What a joke, thats something internal bud! And as for the truck aspect, I have to stand with everyone else, why bother? i mean i can respect you for having an affinity for ford trucks, because i'm not biased either, but i don't have any gm's. Its just something that shouldn't have been done, coming here talking about a gm.

You are wrong dude. This is a -vs- the competition topic. It invites the competition. If we can't post here than it's just a bash topic.

This post was like throwing a rock into a bee hive. hehe

Don't take it personal, it's only about trucks, not your girls.

Then I guess you have a liking for cheap plastic. I don't see any reviews knocking the Ford interior. Can't say the same for GM.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Had a neighbor who used to talk about his moped all the time but I guess you can't rightfully call that bragging.

Your engine is making tapping noises yet you call it refined? Those wonderful transmissions you're so found of are already getting problem reports.

Ahhh Dmaxer. I was wondering if you'd be able to resist coming over and stirring a little trouble with your new truck. Good luck with the truck, but don't expect a lot of leniency over here!

swenson,

Thanks. I hope buying first year doesn't bite me.

Yea, I was getting bored. Needed a new whipping post. Now I'm the post. ahhhhhh feels good.

You know the latest numbers I checked on Pickuptruck.com showed GM trucks are outselling Ford trucks. I'm not lying. I'm not making it up. Am I right swenson?

BTW: The little tap I got is the only thing wrong with the truck, if you call that something wrong. It comes and goes. Goes away after 1200 rpm. Big mistake mentioning it. I should have kept all my problems to myself like so many of the competitor's do. hehe

Like I said, it outpulls the PSD. Hard to believe my little ticker can do that. I noticed most of the fellows driving PSD's don't let me see them looking. HMMMMMMM kinda funny. They all seem to sneek away by jumping lanes. It's a lot easier on the trans than risking it on my little old Izuzu.

ooooooooooooh that hurt, I mean that even hurt me saying that.

I was thinking of changing my plate from DURAMAX to ISUZU. I wonder how that would go over. Probably not too bad. Most of the guys that can afford these things (including Ford owners) have thier wives driving Lexus's anyway. Am I right?
