Watch This 1954 F-100 Embarass a Late Model Corvette
The only thing more satisfying than watching a Ford beat a Chevy might just be watching this old Ford truck outrun a late model Corvette on the drag strip. The old, heavy brick obviously catches the Chevy driver by surprise, even though the race gets heated at the top end.
Hopefully the Corvette driver turned off at the end and just drove home, because things couldn’t have ended much more embarrassingly. The race starts fairly even off the line, but the green Ford puts some serious distance on the ‘Vette after 60 feet.
The Corvette undoubtedly makes the Ford driver a little nervous, however, by closing the gap at the end. The end result is a too close 0.13 second victory for the old truck, with the Corvette hitting 103.70 miles per hour versus the 97.25 trap speed for the F-100.
Regardless, a win is a win. When you’re racing an old steel brick that was designed for farm duty against a fiberglass sports car built to perform, there shouldn’t be surprises like this. Lucky for us there are, and there’s video evidence that will live on forever, thanks to the interwebs.
