1960 Ford F-100

Walston has been a member of FTE since 2004 and is the proud owner of “The 60.” The 60 is the name he gave to the 1960 Ford F-100 that happily occupies his garage.

The rig looks amazing on the outside, but it arguably looks even better under the hood. Walston and his son did a frame off rebuild of the classic Ford, and it doesn’t appear they could have done any better.

Along the way they changed they improved upon some areas of the Ford, but the vintage truck still seems to overall hold true to its roots.

The engine is the 292 that was originally in the rig. However, they took the heads and intake from a late 1950s Thunderbird, put in a new Edelbrock 4bbl street carburetor, an improved street cam, an electric fuel pump, electronic ignition, an electric radiator fan, and more.

Despite all of the changes to the original engine, the rig still has the original T98 transmission and 9″ rear end. Also, the entire original suspension was rebuilt, and all that was changed was that Walston took one leaf out of the front.

Walston has done a lot to this truck to get it to where it is today. It currently has power brakes, a Toyota power steering conversion, many different electrical upgrades, and more.

The rig is a beauty to look at, and we’re sure it’seven more wonderful to drive. Go check out Walston’s garage and leave some comments, browse the photography, and have a good time! Be sure to keep your garage up to date and maybe you’ll be featured next week!
