Thank You eBay! Remembering the 1993 F150 SVT Lightning
by Adam Pockross
Today’s edition of "Thank You, eBay" introduces us to an old friend: the 1993 Ford F150 Lightning. The First Generation 1993 Lightning was the first vehicle ever produced by the SVT folks, but that’s not to say they didn’t know what they were doing. Heck, Jackie Stewart himself helped develop the performance handling and fine tuning.
This eBay beaut comes fully stock in what the original owner describes as "mint showroom" condition. And judging from the glossy pictures, I’d say he’s right. The engine looks so clean I’d let my kids play on it (kids love playing on engines, especially a 351 ci Windsor Block matched with Ford GT-40 heads). Of the 5,276 units built at the Michigan Ford Factory, only 2,585 came in Bright Red (the rest came in Black). And I bet there aren’t too many of those left with only 37,850 miles that look this good. Especially not at this price.
$15,500 is the asking price, so don’t be surprised to find the listing pulled by the time you read this story. Just in case, we quote the seller’s description below. We also created an album of some of the choice pics for your viewing pleasure…

She has been pampered her entire life and great care has been taken to make sure that all replacement parts such as spark plugs, spark plug wires, battery, etc., have been replaced with factory OEM parts. They do not produce the Firestone Firehawk P275/60HR17 tires that originally came on the 1993 Ford Lighting so Toyo Proxes S/R 275/60R17 tires were recently put on the truck. The 100% original paint is stunning and shines beautifully. The sheet metal is laser straight all of the way around the truck with no dings, or dents anywhere. You would be hard pressed to ever find an 18 year-old vehicle with paint that can compare to this Lightning. Open up the door and you will be amazed at the condition of the interior. No cracks, rips or stains anywhere to be found. All of the gauges, lights, stereo, air conditioning, EVERYTHING works perfectly as it should on an original 37K mile truck. The interior is flawless! Under the hood looks like it did when it rolled off the line at the Michigan Ford Factory. Mint, Mint, MINT! For those of you who don’t know about these early Ford Lightning power plants, please do some research on the Internet. The 351 ci Windsor block was matched with Ford GT-40 heads and GT-40 upper & lower intake. The Ford Lightning was designed to compete with the Chevrolet SS454 and it did, turning faster quarter-mile times with a smaller and more efficient motor. There is a ton of information about this first year Lightning on the web so please read up on it. They are incredible trucks and they caused quite a stir back in the day. Again, this truck is an absolute time capsule and I can’t imagine that there are too many others out there that have been left unmolested as this truck has. She starts, runs, drives, steers and brakes like a brand new truck! All of the Manuals, Window Sticker and original documentation that came with the truck when new, will all go to the new owner.
