If you are even slightly interested in the restoration of classic off-roaders, or you enjoy the Resto-Mod scene, the name Icon should need no introduction. The small California company has been taking all manner of vintage 4x4s and rebuilding them into fully modern trucks with all the classic lines and mechanical goodness that made them great to begin with.

The man behind the brand is Jonathan Ward, and XCAR took a minute to sit down with him and get the scoop on how Icon started, what makes the company tick, and where the success came from. They even dive into what’s next on the Icon horizon.

The final result is a 10-minute film full of lust-worthy metal, a lot of cool stories, and a future forecast that is more magical than a leprechaun riding a unicorn while wielding He-Man’s Sword of Power. I don’t want to ruin the whole video, but make sure you stick around to the end to hear about the Helios, a completely custom car designed on a modern interpretation of high 40’s aerodynamic form and built on the bones of the Tesla Model X.

I told you it was magical.
