RAPTOR REPORT How the EcoSport Storm Could Really Rock

If I asked you if you wanted a Raptor-fied Ford Fiesta, you’d probably scream in unison “NO!” However, the Ford EcoSport Storm Concept could be more than just a concept.

If Ford wanted to build one, it could potentially be one badass little car. Here’s how they could turn this concept into reality and be something worthy of want.

EcoSport Storm Show Car

The EcoSport is currently powered by a 1.0L EcoBoost engine. Replacing that with the 1.6L EcoBoost from the Fiesta ST would be a great place to start. With over 200 lb-ft of torque, it’d give the car some serious grunt.

Ford is working on a performance all-wheel drive system that’ll debut in the Focus RS. Word is that Ford is planning on making that type of all-wheel drive system available on more models.

Putting it in the EcoSport Storm makes a lot of sense to test it, and to test it in off-road applications (perhaps before putting it mainstream in something like the Escape).

As for the rest of the Raptor treatment, the work is already done. The body kit on the EcoSport Storm makes it look just like a baby Raptor, and the company already has a relationship with Fox Racing and they could work together on the suspension work.

Will the EcoSport Storm Concept make it into production? Probably not. Even if it did, it’d be unlikely that it’d make it to the United States. But it is a fun thought experiment.
