Hearing is believing as Ford engineers see sound
Seeing is believing, and now, thanks to cutting-edge technology, hearing is believing, too. Ford Motor Company engineers are using a new technology that allows them to actually see unwanted sounds and eliminate them during vehicle development, helping ensure Ford vehicles have the quietest interior cabins ever. The Noise Source Identification Tool, "Noise Vision" for short, is a small sphere equipped with more than 30 highly sensitive microphones and 12 cameras, and it’s helped give the new 2010 Ford Taurus, Fusion, Flex and F-150 the quietest interiors in their classes. more…

Popular Mechanics awards recognize strength and diversity of Ford lineup
Ford has set a precedent with Popular Mechanics’ 2010 Automotive Excellence Awards by winning more categories in a single year than any automaker in the history of the awards. The awards – which recognize the best in automotive design, execution and technology for 2010 model year vehicles – were given to the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 in the Performance category, Ford Transit Connect in the Workhorse category and Ford F-150 SVT Raptor in the Off-Road Ability category. more…

Ford takes aftermarket creativity to the max at SEMA
See how some of the country’s top aftermarket shops are transforming Ford’s hottest vehicles into tricked-out showpieces at the "2009 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show – Powered by Ford" to be held Nov. 3-6 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Tuner creativity abounds – from a blacked-out Ford Taurus SHO to customized versions of Ford Fusion, Focus, Edge and Flex. Making its debut at SEMA this year is the all-new 2010 Transit Connect with an amenity-laden "Travel Inn" edition. Perennial favorites – the Ford Mustang and F-150 – also will shine at this year’s show, which is the premier automotive specialty product trade event in the world representing the $31.8 billion aftermarket industry. more…

3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 "retro rod"
Bigger isn’t always better. If you don’t believe that, keep your eyes peeled for the classic ’34 Ford 3-Window coupe boasting the "first" rear-wheel-drive application of an EcoBoost V-6. The hot rod will deliver an estimated 400 horsepower and 400 ft.-lb. of torque, power numbers that easily rival a typical hot rod’s 302-cubic-inch V-8, even a modern-day V-8 of similar size. The Ford coupe will be showcased at this year’s SEMA show, courtesy of Ford Powertrain, Detroit Street Rods and the Experi-metal team. more…

Ford and Kate Voegele pass the mic to promote teen safe driving
Singer-actress Kate Voegele is handing teenagers the mic to help Ford build peer pressure against hand-held texting while driving. Voegele is asking teens to submit safe driving-themed songs in a nationwide "Belt It Out" promotion. In spring 2010, the public and Voegele will select the teen with the most creative song submission and award savings bonds up to $5,000. more…

Ford World Headquarters sparkles in pink
The brand known for its blue oval shined a different color on its world headquarters building this week – pink, to show its support of breast cancer patients and survivors across the country. Conceived to recognize the strength and courage it takes to deal with the everyday challenges of fighting breast cancer, the pink lights served as a backdrop for the Ford Warriors in Pink symbol front and center. Ford is a 15-year supporter of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and to date has dedicated more than $100 million to the cause. more…

Fiesta Movement agents show off adventurous side, surpass 1 million miles
With adventure-themed missions on their plate for September, Fiesta Movement agents passed a major milestone in their journeys – traveling more than 1 million miles – while completing their missions that included agents trying their hand at racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, sailing in Chicago with Outside Magazine and even experiencing zero gravity. more…
