There Goes Your Afternoon: Shelby Configurator Now Online
Are you in the market to pick up a brand new Shelby GT350 or GT350 R Mustang? Maybe you just want to dream about all the various configuration options that are available. Up until now, you’ve had to look for leaked stories online. However, today you can now go to Ford’s own website and build and price your new Shelby Mustang.
If you haven’t visited Ford’s configuration utility recently, you’ll notice it’s different. Everything you need is on the left-hand side, after you choose which Mustang you’d like to build. Obviously, you want to select the Shelby.
The Shelby GT350 starts at $47,795, while the GT350 R starts at $61,295. No matter which option you choose, you get a 5.2L flat-plane crankshaft V8 that gets 14 miles per gallon in the city, or 21 miles per gallon on the highway. Not that you care about fuel economy, but that’s 1 fewer mile per gallon than an automatic transmission Hellcat. It’s also 2 miles per gallon better than the Camaro Z/28.
Every time I look at the pricing I really can’t believe how much performance Ford is giving you for the price, especially compared to the asking price for the Z/28. It almost makes me wonder how they’re doing it.
