Faulty fuel injection pumps are causing Ford to recall 2,472 2015 and 2016 Ford Transit vans powered by the 3.2-liter five-cylinder diesel engine.
According to Ford, “The fuel injection pump could malfunction, which may cause the engine to not start or stall without warning while driving and without the ability to restart, increasing the risk of a crash.”
The affected vans are in North America and were built between July 15, 2015 and April 14, 2016.
No specific dates have been set for the recall campaign, but when it does get under way, Ford dealers will check the fuel system for metallic contamination. If they don’t find any, they’ll replace the fuel pump and associated hardware. If the Transit’s fuel system has been contaminated, dealers will swap out the fuel injection pump and fuel injectors for new units, then clean and flush out the entire fuel system.

He's now a regular at TAWA's two main events: the Texas Auto Roundup in the spring and the Texas Truck Rodeo in the fall.
Over the past several years, Derek has learned how to drive off-road in various four-wheel-drive SUVs (he even camped out for two nights in a Land Rover), and driven around various tracks in hot hatches, muscle cars, and exotics. Several of his pieces, including his article about the 2015 Ford F-150 being crowned TAWA's 2014 "Truck of Texas" and his review of the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, have won awards in TAWA's annual Excellence in Craft Competition.
