Is Ford Building a New Lightning?
Around a decade ago, Ford axed the somewhat popular Ford F-150 Lightning. And it was a pretty great truck. Capable of hitting 0-60 mph in just 5.2 seconds, but still able to carry whatever you needed in the bed of it.
After the Lightning was no more, we got the all mighty Raptor and we thought our days of other super trucks was over. We may have been wrong.
According to a rumor inside Ford, the company is hard at work creating a successor to the Lightning. Using the twin turbo EcoBoost V6, and driving only the rear wheels, a new Ford Lightning could be in the works.
While these are still just rumors, ideas and guesses were flying high when Ford Trademarked the nameplate EcoBeast a few months ago. Could this name be the new Ford Lightning? Or is it another performance car that Ford has up its sleeves?
Only time will tell, but if it does prove to be true, look for a concept either later this year, or early next year. Fingers crossed.
