All in the Family: A 1977 Ford F-150 Build
Most people connect with family during awkward reunions, obscure weddings, and smiling Christmas cards. However, dusterbd13 is not most people.
Rather than tolerating his niece or avoiding communication with the younger generation, he decided that they would get his fifteen-year-old niece — Bree — her first truck: a glorious 1977 Ford F-150.
Equipped with a fresh (ist) interior, a 300 I6, and three on the tree this truck was a steal for just $600! He tossed in some gas and a battery and took the wonderful truck for a spin before finally buying it up and getting it on the trailer for the hundred mile ride back to their home state of North Carolina.
The ground rule set down by dusterbd13’s brother, and Bree’s father, was to “spend no money that absolutely didn’t have to be spent.”
So, the two sat down and made a list of what had to be done, what should be done, and what they would like to be done. After that was complete, they moved to step one: cleaning up the filthy thing!
Though this truck is still at the beginning of it’s journey to being a reliable daily driver, it certainly is moving along. Still in need of tires and radius arm bushings, this truck was actually quite impressive, containing many good and working parts from 2003.
After draining out the fuel tank of four gallons of stale gas and cleaning it out with soapy water, the truck will be well worth it when it’s done!
