Could This Camouflaged Truck Be the 2018 Ford F-150?
2016 is almost over, and sooner rather than later dealerships across the country will be inundated with 2017 year model vehicles. That can only mean one thing — the first wave of 2018 prototypes is just around the corner.
In fact, for a vehicle to launch as a 2018 year model, it should now be finishing the bulk of its preliminary testing, as they’re only about six to eight month away from making their media debut. That being said, could these photographs shot by Chris Doane, published by Autoblog show the 2018 Ford F-150?
Even if that’s in fact the 2018 year model, there’s not much for us to see. Unless you consider black wheels and a truck bed something revolutionary. The folks at Ford HQ did a heck of a job at covering the F-150’s crucial bits, and it’s flat out impossible to tell what new design queues could be hiding under all that camouflage.
Let’s look at the bright side though, unless Ford is trying to be really, really sneaky, only components receiving a significant redesign or overhaul are covered up. That means that we can expect considerable changes to the front and rear fascia—most likely headlights, grille, and taillights.
Also, we have no idea what engine might be inside that camouflaged hood, and without the presence of a video, it’s impossible to tell what kind of noise it made. We’ve previous reported on possible hybrid and even diesel F-150 test mules, but we’re at a loss with this one.
