Better Understand Why You Want Adaptive Steering on Your 2017 Super Duty

2017 Ford Super Duty Ford-Trucks 29

When Ford debuted the 2017 Super Duty to the media at a drive event in Colorado a few months back, one of the key features they were touting was the available active steering. It’s unique technology that makes the truck easier to handle, thus making it easier to drive and tow with. How much easier can it actually make it? Ford is here to show you.

Because the steering on the Super Duty is still hydraulically assisted, Ford put an electric motor and gear set into the steering wheel itself. Depending on the speed of the vehicle and driver input, the system can increase or decrease the steering effort required automatically.

The old school truck person in me questions whether I want the steering, which is pretty important, to not be consistent all the time. However, my experience at the launch made me a believer. It’s a completely seamless system and compared to a non-active steering truck, seems like a no-brainer to purchase.

Also, if you decide to autocross your Super Duty, it’ll be easier. Yes, I know you’re not going to do that.
