The 700 Horsepower 2016 Shelby F-150 is Ready to Destroy Everything
Look at that nose. Look at it! That is a nose that looks like it’ll beat you up if you don’t pay your bookie. That is a nose that looks like it should be under the watch of Daenerys Targaryen and will turn into a spout of flames if you look at it wrong. That is a nose that a Star Wars villain would drive behind if Star Wars villains lived on Earth and were totally into off-roading and uprooting trees just for fun. That is the nose of the 2016 Shelby American Ford F-150, and it just broke cover for the first time at SEMA.
After building a limited run of 50 Baja 700s based on the old F-150 Raptor, Shelby leveled up with the help of truck customizers Tuscany Motor Company. This thing has all sorts of upgrades, starting with a V8 engine that’s gone from 395 horsepower to 700. That’s thanks to a supercharger, a new cold air intake, a billet high-flow throttle body, better fuel injectors, and a Borla exhaust, among a few other things.
Off-road pieces include a performance suspension from Shelby, Fox, and BDS. That crawls terrain on 18-inch Shelby wheels and BFGoodrich K02 tires. Also, did you see those racing stripes? That makes everything better, faster, and stronger, because they look so damn cool.
The custom won’t come cheap. In order to get one of the 500 of these that will be built, you’ll have to cough up $85,495 for a stock engine version or $98,995 for 700 ponies (seriously, at that money range, why would you ever get the lower engine?).
