5 Best Fords for the Pending Apocalypse

Terrorist attacks, global pandemics, and the ever-present nuclear annihilation threat means that there’s a chance that we’ll all experience a global apocalypse before we die. Heck, this year the Doomsday Clock moved to 3 Minutes To Midnight. But when the end of days happens, you still want to be loyal to your favorite truck maker, right? Here’s five Ford, or Ford-based, vehicles you should try to acquire to survive the end of the world.

Terradyne Gurkha RPV

The Terradyne Gurkha RPV is built using the bones of a Ford F-550. But unlike a traditional F-550, this one can survive direct shots from AK-47s, .50 caliber sniper rifles, and is protected from small explosive devices.

It’s not cheap, but it is the end of the world, so financing really isn’t necessary.

Ford F-750 World Cruiser

You’ll need a place to live after the bombs drop, and it helps to be mobile. So why not enjoy the end of it all in extreme luxury? That’s where the F-750 World Cruiser comes in.

2017 Ford Raptor

If you need a vehicle that can, quite literally, go anywhere, the 2017 Ford Raptor is the vehicle to choose. While 450 horsepower (estimated) isn’t a lot compared to other fast vehicles out there for you to steal, the ability to go 100 miles-per-hour over just about any surface will come in handy when you’re trying to get away from someone trying to kill you.

Also, the ’17’s 3.5L EcoBoost and 10-speed automatic will make it more fuel efficient, so you don’t have to siphon gasoline as much. Don’t think that’s a big deal? Have you siphoned gas before?

Ford Excursion

While not technically an armored personnel carrier, the Ford Excursion is big enough to carry you and your friends or family, while retaining some of the go anywhere ability you might need when the roads are blown out because of bombs.

If you are going to steal one, though, get one with some options.

Ford GT

This isn’t necessarily the best pick for after the bombs fall, but if you’re going to die in a nuclear holocaust you might as well go out having a crap-ton of fun, right? Close to 700 horsepower, a fully-carbon fiber chassis, and an aerodynamic body means you can go pretty fast.

Maybe you can outrun the shockwave that’ll probably kill you?

Notice that I didn’t mention much about a zombie apocalypse. According to most scientific research, that’s really not possible. But, if there were a zombie apocalypse you might want to reconsider some of your vehicle choices.

Also, vehicles like the Gurkha and F-750 World Cruiser run on diesel fuel. In the event of a disaster, it’s much easier to find fuel to power a diesel engine than a gasoline engine. After awhile, all the gasoline will evaporate out of the stations and you’ll be without go juice for your ride.

There’s obviously a lot of Ford vehicles that we missed. Which ride would you “acquire” if the apocolypse sudden rained down on us all? Let us know in the comments or over in the forums!
