Gadgets like the iPad and Android-based mobile communications systems are all the rave. At the 2010 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Superchips became the first tuning company to utilize the two in an on-board tuning system.  The new Superchips VIVID uses an ARCHOS 4.3” internet tablet equipped with the Android 2.2 operating system to make one of the most advanced tuners on the market.

Like all Superchips products, the VIVID is available with tuning settings for a wide variety of vehicles but the bigger story is what else the VIVID can do.  Thanks to the functionality of the ARCHOS web tablet, the Superchips VIVID offers a gauge layout that is completely customizable with a  huge selection of gauge choices that can be arranged to fit the driver’s preferences.  However, if you are stuck in traffic and you aren’t so interested in watching your RPM sit at idle, you can flip through the laptop-like features of the ARCHOS, including web browsing, email, social media, and you can even watch movies…although I wouldn’t recommend doing most of those things while driving.

Unlike most tuners, when you get to where you are going the Superchips VIVID acts as more than just a tuner or truck-toy, as you can take it with you and still enjoy all of the features of the ARCHOS web tablet. And even if you already have a tablet or smartphone, you can still enjoy the new Superchips layout as the Superchips AVID features all of the software of the VIVID, but the AVID works as an application for many popular smart phones and web tablets.
