How to replace the backlight bulb in a 1992 Ford DIN style radio.

By Patrick Fogle

Items needed:

  • #1 Phillips Screwdriver
  • Needle nose pliers
  • 1 #37 bulb

Step 1:

Turn all controls to one side or the other, make them all the same for easier reassembly (as seen above).

Step 2:

Pull the knobs off, this may require some effort.

Step 3:

Remove screws that hold the face on. Highlighted in red

Step 4:

Gently remove the face. This can be tricky, so be careful not to break any wires. Again the bulb is highlighted in red.

Step 5: Use the pliers to replace the bulb. Be gentle it is glass. I have found it is possible to do it without breaking the bulb.
