First Drive: 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor

The Ford truck F-150 model based off of the SVT Raptor vehicle for the 2011 year is only of the most hotly anticipated vehicles to come out in recent manufacturer design years. With a dramatically powerful 6.2-liter v-8 engine, SuperCrew performance, and excellent horsepower, this vehicle is truly top of its class in comparison with other full size pickup trucks. Unlike some of the other models of Ford's F-150 series, however, the 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is designed for racing. It was based upon a racing vehicle, and is comfortable both on or off of the racetrack; still, this vehicle will be more than adequate for most people's general driving needs as well.

Vehicle Specs

One of the biggest draws to purchasing a 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is that it has a larger and enhanced engine. With 8 cylinders and 5.2 liters of capacity, it is both larger and more powerful than the preceding version of the Raptor. In fact, this vehicle has well over 100 horsepower on its predecessor, and a total of 411 horsepower. This is more powerful than many other vehicles that exist on the market today, sports car and muscle car or otherwise.

On top of the incredibly powerful engine, the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor from the 2011 model year is roomy and spacious inside. With plenty of storage space inside of the cabin, it can easily fit 5 people. There is also ample room for storage in the canopy of the truck too. The Ford F-150 SVT Raptor comes standard with a wide array of different options and accessories that are built into it, including circulated air, heated seats, GPS system and much more.

Handling and Performance

Because the vehicle was originally designed based off of a racing car, this truck is supremely well outfitted to handle virtually any type of terrain that you might drive on. With special Fox Racing shocks, the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor for the 2011 year can sustain ground impacts that are much greater than most other trucks of its size. This also means that it can safely travel at higher speeds without running the risk of damaging any of the components.

The truck also has no problem with excellent handling. It is easily able to stop and turn on a dime, and the steering and brakes are both dramatically better and more responsive than many other vehicles that are comparable.

One of the other innovations in this vehicle from previous Raptors is a reformatting of the transmission system to add in an extra gear on the lower end. This results in a smoother ride at lower speeds, and excellent turning capabilities at fast and slow speeds both.
