How To Replace your Ford Truck's Wipers

Your Ford truck wiper is important as it keeps the windshield clear and provides you with good visibility while you drive in inclement weather. The windshield wiper blades need to be replaced from time to time as they get damaged and deteriorate over time. Damaged wiper blades can’t wipe dirt or water off the windshield and can seriously impair your visibility. You can buy replacement wiper blades either from the dealer who sold you the car or any local auto parts retailer.

How to Replace the Windshield Wiper Blades on Your Ford Truck:

Step 1

Replacing wiper blades on your truck is an uncomplicated procedure and only requires pliers and replacement wiper blades to successfully change the blades.

Step 2

Refer to the vehicle owner’s manual before purchasing the replacement blades for your truck as different trucks are equipped with unique wiper blades.

Step 3

You should buy the entire blade and not just the rubber blade insert in the interest of your family’s safety.

Step 4

Ensure that your car is parked safely and remove the keys from the ignition.

Step 5

If you have trouble reaching the wiper blades, switch on the ignition, turn on the wipers and then turn the ignition off when the blades are positioned vertically on the windshield.

Step 6

Then, pull up the wiper arm away from the windshield and remove the old wiper blade from the arm by sliding off the blade holder with the pliers. Some wiper arms have locking pins under the blade that hold the blade in place. If this is the case, you have to release the locking pin by pressing it firmly. The blade can then be easily removed.

Step 7

Read the instructions on the new wiper blade package. Then, open the package and remove the attachments provided.

Step 8

Insert the attachment onto the wiper arm and press it into place. If the wiper has a holder and not a locking pin, you might need pliers to slide the blade holder into place and attach the new wiper blade. You should be able to hear a click that signifies that the attachment is in place.

Step 9

Ensure that the wiper blade is securely attached and lower the wiper arm onto the windshield.

Step 10

Repeat the procedure on the other wiper. It’s advisable to change both the wiper blades simultaneously for improved visibility.

Step 11

Spray washer fluid on the windshield and switch on the wipers to check that they have been properly installed. The washer fluid should be wiped off after a few swipes.

Step 12

To prolong the life of your wiper blades you should clean them regularly with alcohol and a sponge.

Replacing your Ford wiper blades is an easy task that requires very little time. You should replace the wiper blades at the first sign of deterioration or damage as it can be a question of life and death. Most manufacturers recommend that windshield wiper blades should be replaced every six months. It’s best to replace them every fall so that you are prepared for the winter months when the blades are required.
