A Ford Ranger recall alert has been issued in conjunction with a recall on the 2011 F-Series. For the standard Ford Rangers, the 2010 models are affected. Included in the 2010 recall are 23,688 vehicles, and the 2011 model recall list includes 8,022 vehicles.

2010 Ford Rangers
The Ford Rangers under recall are experiencing a problem with the protective cover on the fuel line that may not be installed properly. Because of this, the throttle body cover may come into contact with the fuel line and potentially cause chafing. This can lead to a fuel source. The biggest concern is if an ignition source is present, a fire can break out. This recall affects the 2010 Ford Rangers made from October 15, 2009 to May 19, 2010.

2011 Ford Ranger F-Series
The F-Series is under recall because of a malfunctioning of the Body Control Module which can result in a fire, though no cases of fire have been reported. The Body Control Module controls the lights and HVAC system. The affected models were built from October 25, 2010 to November 20, 2010. The models involved include the 2011 Ford Edge, F150, F250, F350, F450, F550 and the Lincoln MKX.

All recalls are covered under your manufacturer's warranty. If you receive a letter in the mail or check your build date (located on the label affixed in the driver's side doorjamb) simply take your vehicle to your local Ford dealership repair shop to be fixed. Though the source of the problem has been found (a newly trained operator failed to clean a soldering machine between shifts at the production plant), it is not known yet whether the control module will need to be repaired or replaced.
