2006 Ford F150 Review and Specs

The 2006 Ford F150 had a different, yet familiar look to Ford enthusiasts, with the eighth partnership between Ford and Harley Davidson: the 2006 Ford limited-edition Harley Davidson F150. The 2006 Ford Harley Davidson F150 had a black and intimidating look that the Harley motorcycle personified for years, with a black exterior and interior details and rich black Aniline leather seating. Highlighting this dark look were 22-inch polished forged aluminum wheels and interior chrome details that grabbed the eye. New for the 2006 Ford F150 was the availability of 20-inch wheels for FX4, Lariat, and King Ranch pickups, five-inch chrome tubular running boards and a six-month subscription that was available for STX, XLT, FX4 and Lariat models, and a chrome package for SXT and Lariat models.

The 2006 Ford F150 had the same line up of available body configurations that were available the previous year, including the F150 XL, STX, XLT, FX4 and Lariat models. There were three box lengths available to choose from, along with two different box styles, providing a large selection of available full-size pickups.

A 4.6 L 231 hp V8 engine with 293 ft lbs of torque @ 3400 rpm was standard in all four-wheel drive 2006 Ford F150 pickups—except for FX4 and FX4 Flareside pickups. The 4.6 was also standard in all rear-wheel 2006 Ford F150 XL SuperCab, STX SuperCab, XLT SuperCrew, Lariat SuperCab, and Lariat SuperCrew models. Standard with rear-wheel drive XL, XLT, and STX models was a 4.2 L 202 hp V6 powerplant.

A 5-speed manual overdrive transmission was standard in XL, STX, XL SuperCab and XLT SuperCab rear-wheel drive pickups, while the rest of the rear-wheel pickups and all four-wheel drive models had a 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission as standard equipment.

The 2006 Ford F150 came in a variety of available colors, including basic black, dark shadow gray metallic, bright red, Oxford white, silver metallic and true blue metallic. Also included was a maximum towing rating of 9,900 lbs when equipped with the optional towing package and a maximum payload capacity of 3,000 lbs.
