The 2001 Ford Super Duty F350 made a few minor changes on a number of the trims, the old 7.3L 235hp diesel powerplant was upgraded to 250 hp, which boosted hauling power to over 11,000 pounds. 4-wheel anti-lock brakes and a tow prep package were new standard features as well. 2001 F350 had a new driver and front passenger air bag supplemental restraint system called SRS and child-safety anchors on all seats.

Standard features included a radio, tachometer, ABS brakes, air bags for passenger and driver, cassette player, CD player, cruise control, and tilt steering in all F350 pickups (except for XL models).

The 2001 F350 was available in harvest gold, bright amber, basic black, dark highland green, island blue, oxford white, red, toreador red, and true blue. Trims included RegularCab, SuperCab, and Crew Cab styles, XL, XLT and Lariat models and in different box lengths.

Available options for the 2001 Ford Super Duty F350 included limited slip differential or axle, leather steering wheel, multi-adjustable power seat, tow hitch receiver, power adjustable exterior mirror, daylight running and fog lights, power lock doors, and air conditioning in all but XLT models. Other options for Duty F350 pickups included privacy glass or deep tinted glass, sliding rear pickup truck window, body side/cab step or running board, cargo area cover, cargo net, load bearing exterior rack, pickup truck bed liner, and mud guards.

The standard engine with all 2001 Ford Super Duty F350 models (except for Crew Cabs) is a 5.4L 260hp 16-valve gas engine with 350ft lbs of torque @ 2500 rpm and Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection.
