2001 Ford Super Duty F250 Review  



The 2001 Ford Super Duty F250 was improved with a trailer towing package and 4-wheel anti-lock brakes as standard equipment. The horsepower and torque produced by the 7.3L Power Stroke turbo diesel engine was upgraded as well. Other changes in the 2001 Ford Super Duty F250 included power mirrors, a Remote Keyless Entry System in XLT models, and a stereo radio with CD player in Lariat models.

All 2001 F250 pickups were available in harvest gold, bright amber, basic black, dark highland green, island blue, oxford white, red, toreador red, and true blue. Optional equipment included a cargo area cover, cargo net, load bearing exterior rack, and pickup truck bed liner. Also optional were alloy wheels, steel wheels, tow hitch receiver, daylight running lights, fog lights, body side/cab step or running board, and mud guards.

The standard engine with 2001 Ford Super Duty F250 pickups was a 5.4L 260hp 16-valve gas engine producing 350 ft lbs of torque @ 2500 rpm. Optional engines included a 7.3L 250hp 16-valve diesel engine with turbocharger and Electronic Fuel Injection producing 505 ft lbs of torque @ 1600 rpm; a 7.3L 275hp 16-valve diesel engine with turbocharger and Electronic Fuel Injection producing 520 ft lbs of torque @ 1600 rpm; and a 6.8L 310hp 20-valve gas engine producing 425 ft lbs of torque @ 3250 rpm.

A 5-speed manual overdrive transmission was standard equipment in all rear-wheel and four-wheel drive models, with the option for a 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission or 6-speed manual overdrive transmission.

Standard equipment on all Lariat and XLT 2001 F250 pickups was air conditioning, cruise control, CD player, and tilt steering. A tachometer and radio were standard equipment with all 2001 Ford Super Duty pickups. Standard equipment on all Lariat models was a leather steering wheel , leather seats, and driver multi-adjustable power seat. A heated front seat was an option with all Lariat models. The driver multi-adjustable power seat was optional for all other F250 pickups.
