2002 Ford Super Duty F250 Review  



The 2002 Ford Super Duty F250 was upgraded with new headlamps for XLT and Lariat pickups, forward folding telescoping trailer tow mirrors, a re-worked instrument panel (standard for all pickups with an automatic transmission), and a number of small interior changes to improve comfort and usability. A few new exterior and interior color options were added as well.

Standard equipment in all rear-wheel and four-wheel drive XLT, XLT SuperCab, XLT CrewCab, and Lariat pickups included power door locks, a locking pickup tailgate, power window, cruise control, tilt steering, tilt steering column, and steering wheel mounted controls. ABS brakes, air bags, interval window wiper blades and cargo area tie downs were standard equipment in all rear-wheel and four-wheel drive 2002 Ford Super Duty F250 pickups. Privacy glass or deep tinted glass was standard in all Lariat models.

The 2002 F250 was available in arizona beige, basic black, silver, dark highland green, dark shadow gray, island blue, oxford white, red, toreador red, and sapphire blue. Options included a slip differential or axle, electronic parking aid for all XLT and Lariat SuperCab models, keyless remote entry, CD changer, tow hitch receiver, and mud guards. Also optional with the 2002 was a cargo area cover, cargo net, load bearing exterior rack, and pickup truck bed liner.

The standard engine with 2002 F250 pickups was a 5.4L 260hp 16-valve gas engine with Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection producing 350 ft lbs of torque @ 2500 rpm. Other options included a 7.3 L 250 hp 16-valve diesel engine with turbocharger and Electronic Fuel Injection producing 505 ft lbs of torque @ 1600 rpm, a 7.3 L 275 hp 16-valve diesel engine with turbocharger and Electronic Fuel Injection producing 520 ft lbs of torque @ 1600 rpm, and a 6.8 L 310 hp 20-valve gas engine with Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection producing 425 ft lbs of torque @ 3250 rpm.

The standard transmission offered was a 6-speed manual overdrive transmission in all rear-wheel and four-wheel models, with the option for a 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission in all models.
