2010 Ford F350 Super Duty Review

The F350 for 2010 offers customers numerous options and models. Choose from XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Cabela’s, and Harley-Davidson versions. The models allow buyers to choose from special interiors, cast aluminum wheels, keyless entry, and dual-zone interior temperature controls, among other features. Options include heavy-duty alternator, suspension, shock, and tow packages; a snow-plow prep package; and various electronic upgrades such as navigation, video, and audio add-ons. Pickups come in Regular Cab, Crew Cab, and SuperCab editions, depending on model.

Power plants include the 5.4L gas V-8, 6.8 L gas V-10, or the 6.4 L Power Stroke® V8 “turbo” diesel (diesel only on the Harley-Davidson edition).

Ford is calling its V-8 diesel “the most powerful… ever built.” The motor delivers 350 horsepower, 650 lb. ft. of torque (peak torque arrives at 2,000 rpm) and quick starting, cranking up in less than two seconds at -20 degrees F. A particulate filter traps soot particles. Combined with burning state-of-the-art ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel, the engine emits about as many particles as a similar-sized gasoline engine. The truck therefore, according to Ford, burns cleaner and puts out less odor than previous models, with the added benefit of the emissions system itself lasting longer. Other engine bright spots include duel turbo chargers for more power, more power faster, and better performance. High-pressure, common-rail fuel injection efficiently delivers fuel, thus providing more powerful acceleration, less engine clatter, and reduced fuel consumption.

As a complement to the diesel engine, the F350 offers a TorqShift® transmission specifically designed to handle high torque. This low-noise, five-speed automatic transmission also features a tow/haul mode, which allows the F350 to compensate for grade, load and altitude. Standard transmission on the 2010 F350 is the six-speed manual.

Other stand-out features of the 2010 F350 is a payload capacity of 6,180 lbs., an optional integrated tailgate step for easy truck-bed entry, an optional stowable bed extender, and available spray-in bedliner.
