Ford F 250 Super Crew BF Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A Review




The Ford F 250 Super Crew BF Goodrich Trail T/A provides a multipurpose highway all-terrain tire with above average quality. These Rugged Trail T/A’s are intended for use on light trucks, jeeps, and sport utility vehicles, and are considered to be highway, all-terrain tires.

Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A’s provide year-round traction, low rolling resistance, flexibility, value, low vibration, and low noise levels due to its lightweight shock-absorbing two-ply polyester cord sidewall composition. Considered Original Equipment (OE) for the Ford F-250, they are also sold in sets of four or axle pairs to owners that drive vehicles that are equal in load range, weight, speed rating stipulations, and the necessary tire size. Goodrich has expanded the line to fit a range of vehicles and rated the Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A tires for probable road and driving conditions. Though these tires can handle driving conditions in light snow, they are not necessarily recommended for more adverse weather circumstances.

The Goodrich Rugged Trail Tire T/A tire ranges in weight from 33 to 52 pounds and have a maximum load capacity of 1984 to 3415 pounds. The price of each tire ranges from $113.00 to $233.00, depending on the specifications.


Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A Warranty

There is no tread life warranty on the Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A, but the uniformity warranty covers the first 2/32” of wear. Also, Goodrich offers a manufacturer Road Hazard Warranty for an additional fee. On the plus side, Workmanship and Material Warranty lasts 6 years and offers free replacement the first year or 25% of the tread. The Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A warranty received a 3.5 (out of 4) rating.

Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A Review

Forty six percent of people surveyed online stated that they would “probably not” purchase this tire again. Although touted with an “aggressive tread pattern” for better on and off road traction, the tire tread wear scored a 6.6 (out of 10) -- this is considered “excellent”. The hydroplaning resistance and wet traction scored a 6.0 and 6.1 respectfully (out of 10), which is in the “good’ range. These tires sport independent intermediate tread blocks for dreadful weather conditions. As far as light snow traction and deep snow traction, the Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A scored 5.8 and 5.5 respectfully.

Stability and tire tread on the Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A scored a 6.7 and 6.6, both considered excellent. Also in the excellent category, the Rugged Trail T/A scored a 7.6 for dry traction, a 6.9 in steering response, a 7.4 for noise comfort and a 7.3 for ride comfort.

Overall, the Rugged Trail T/A, is considered to be an above average tire and did not score unacceptable (0-2.5), fair (2.6-4.5) or superior (8.6-10) in any of the 12 categories surveyed. Out of the 71 tires graded and surveyed, the Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A scored 6.4 out of 8.9 and ranked number 43.
