The connection we had reversed were the red/orange and dark grey.

Route the Dura Trans wiring harnesses behind the fuse access panel. We recommend you buy a velco pad and attach one side to the Dura Trans and the other to the back of the fuse access panel. This makes it extremely easy to access the Dura Trans should you ever want to reconfigure its settings.

Reconnect the instrument cluster wiring harness connectors and put the cluster back in place. You'll need to have the steering column tilted down to do this. Be careful when reconnecting the drive (P R N D 2 1) connector, it has a habit of wanting to come out of place just as you get everything perfectly seated! Bolt the cluster back in place.

Slide the dash back over the steering column and reconnect all the wiring harness connectors.

Here are example connectors (the two by the driver door ac vent). The left connector as already been connected in this photo.

Snap the dash back in place. The dash self connects without screws. Screw in the bolts that held the stereo unit in place.

Now for the test....

Upon starting the truck, we immediately noticed that the overdrive light functioned differently. Instead of indicating that the overdrive was on (normal Ford behavior), it indicated it was off! Great so far....

At 55 mph, the light turned off and a second later the truck shifted into overdrive.... Perfect!

When slowing down to 30 mph, the overdrive lamp turned on and within a second the truck down-shifted.

We were pleased with how well it worked and everyone was all-smiles after the test drive!

Here are the driver impressions:

Bobby Lockwood: I really like the Dura Trans a lot. It works exactly like they said it would. It saves a lot of aggravation not having to push the overdrive button all the time, especially on the highway. My only wish is that I could lower the kick-in point because 55 is too high for my style of driving. (NOTE: InterMotive informed us that the "kick-in" point can be set as low as 50 mph.)

Jonathan Lockwood: First of all, it is a BIG improvement over stock. I really like it, especially the fact that it keeps the OD from engaging too soon (35mph) and thus causing the tranny to hunt. Some improvements that it can use are: After the Overdive has been engaged, the speed in which it is deactivated should have a setting that goes to about 45mph. 35mph is just tooo slow for the OD to be engaged and the tranny starts to hunt going up a small grade. The installation manual needs to be more clear. It took awhile to install it. The rotory buttons, which control the OD engaugement should have knobs on them, or a bigger place for something flat to fit in it. It takes a small flat screwdriver to get in to change the settings. I do like starting out OD enguagement going up to 70 mph, which is a HUGE plus for performance driving. On a Scale 1 to 10, I would give it an 8 due to the reasons above.

My impressions: While I found the installation instructions needed more details, I loved the way the product performed and the simplicity of connecting it to the harness. The speed setting dial-in is a really nice feature and the fact that they give you plenty of wiring length makes it really easy to locate the Dura Trans so you can change the settings easily. The fact that it not only works, but also drives the OD light, letting you know what its doing is a real plus. I was absolutely amazed that the product worked after we reversed two of the wires! All in all, a great product that does exactly what its manufacturer claims.
