How to Install Ford Super Duty Halo and LED Headlights

Whether you're interested in improving the appearance or the lights on your Ford truck, or perhaps replacing a burnt out bulb with a new Halo or LED light, installing new headlights in your truck is an easy process that you can complete at home with minimal parts and accessories. Read on for a step by step guide on how to install new headlights in yoru Ford truck.

Step 1 -- Gather Your Materials

First, you'll need to purchase the necessary materials. Research LED lights online or ask a professional for advice. You'll also need a set of Phillips screwdrivers of various sizes as well.

Step 2 -- Remove the Plastic Covering

In order to access the headlight for your Ford truck, you'll first need to remove the plastic headlight covering. This can be done with a screwdriver. There should be a set of four screws positioned around the outside of the plastic covering. Carefully remove those screws with the screwdriver and keep track of them for later so that you can reinstall the covering.

Step 3 -- Remove the Existing Headlight

Be sure that the vehicle is off before you begin. Unscrew the existing headlight and pull it out from the system. You'll have to unscrew a set of retaining screws inside of the covering as well in order to do this. Gently disconnect the wires that attach to the base of the headlight.

Step 4 -- Install the New Headlight

At this point, you're ready to install your new headlight in place of the old one. The LED connections should be the same as the base of the existing headlight. Double check them first to make sure that they are. You'll first need to attach the wires from the electrical system of your truck to the base of the new headlight. Match up the colors to ensure a proper connection.

Next, screw the headlight gently into the socket at the grille of the car and replace the retaining screws as needed.

Finally, you can close up the plastic covering and reattach it using the screws that you removed in Step 2. Repeat this process exactly for the other headlight in order to replace that one as well.

Be sure to consult with a professional or a Ford mechanic if you have any questions or concerns along the way.
