5 Reasons Why the Ford F-Series is Better than the Toyota Tundra #4

4. Fuel Economy – Toyota is known for their supreme fuel economy, so we would expect the Japanese automaker to have an advantage here, right? Wrong. In its most efficient form, the two wheel drive Toyota Tundra 4.0L V6 yields 16mpg around town and 20 on the highway, while offering just 270hp and 278lb-ft of torque. The most powerful Tundra V8 offers 13/17mpg while packing 381hp and 401lb-ft of torque. And while Toyota also has a mid-level 4.6L V8, with just 14/19 for fuel economy mated with 310hp – it is also nothing to brag about. On the other hand, Ford’s entry level V6 offers 17/23 along with 302 horsepower. Even Ford’s most capable engine – the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 – offers better fuel economy than the entry level Toyota V6, and unlike that base model Tundra, the EcoBoost F150 can tow 11,300 pounds.
